# 10 Today

I'm lucky that I live in a town with plenty of nice, country walks and with a Deer Park nearby which is where the photos below were taken earlier this morning.

# 9 Killerton House and Gardens

What a lovely day it was yesterday, bright and sunny and quite warm in the afternoon after a chilly morning.

We packed a picnic and drove down to Killerton House and Gardens in Devon. We had a great time walking in the garden, exploring the woods and visiting the house in the company of a guide in Victorian costume.

I especially enjoyed walking the woods because the colours were amazing and the views just breathtaking.

After Killerton House we followed the footpath to nearby Budlake Post Office. This was the post office that served both the house and the local community until the 1950s and it's full of memorabilia from the time.

As usual I took lots of photos and below are just a few. To see them bigger just click on them.

Hello to everyone who stops by, hope you have a great start to another week.

If you've visited my blog before you might notice I changed the background to a lighter one. What do you think? Is it better than the previous dark gey one? Hope you like it.

Last Saturday I finally completed the 40 something octagons I need to finish my popcorn flower blanket. Now all there's left to do is to sew them on and do the edging which I haven't yet decided what it's going to be but it's the not knowing that makes it so much more interesting.

Then yesterday after lunch we went for a walk to soak up a bit of sun and to admire the beautiful Autumn colours at nearby Woodchester Park, a National Trust property only 20 minutes or so from where we live. I never tire of looking at these colours, they're just so beautiful.

# 7 Vegetable soup

Autumn and Winter call for soup at our house, homemade of course!

This one was made yesterday using only 4 ingredients: half of a butternut squash diced, 3 medium courgettes sliced, 3 medium carrots also sliced, half an onion chopped and 2 vegetable Knorr cubes for seasoning.

Cover with water and bring to the boil, then let it simmer until all the vegetables are cooked. Remove it from the heat, drizzle with a little olive oil and blend until smooth. I usually make enough to last us 2 or 3 days. Just keep it in a food container in the fridge and heat up before serving.

What a lovely day it is today and what a nice change it makes from the last few days which have been quite gloomy.

The not so nice weather and the fact that I have a cold made me miss out on my walks but today I just had to go out and soak up a bit of sunshine. I even took my camera with me to take pictures.

Apart from a couple of shopping trips, the weekend was quietly spent at home and as usual there was a lot of cooking going on.

Delicious, steaming hot applesauce.

Almond and condensed milk torte.

Psst - Just thought I'd remind you. If you want to see the pictures in a larger size all you need to do is click on them.
